Offered is the rookie card of Boston's beloved successor to Ted Williams: a 1960 Topps #148 Carl Yastrzemski "Sport Magazine 1960 Rookie Star," graded VG-EX 4 by PSA. Part of Topps' popular Sport Magazine Rookie Star subset, this horizontal design is one of the most recognizable rookie cards of the decade.

The obverse shows a young "Yaz" in a navy Red Sox cap, set within a circular portrait over a bright orange background accented by a patriotic red, white and blue banner. The name "Carl Yastrzemski" appears across the bottom along with "Boston Red Sox • 2nd B.," the position he played as a minor leaguer before becoming a fixture in left field at Fenway Park. The reverse, credited to the editors of Sport Magazine, notes the "reported $100,000" bonus Boston paid to sign him and his MVP season in the Carolina League.

Yastrzemski spent his entire 23-year career with the Red Sox. He won the 1967 Triple Crown and AL MVP while leading the "Impossible Dream" club to the pennant, and he went on to collect 3,419 hits, 452 home runs, seven Gold Gloves and 18 All-Star selections. He was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1989.

This example displays vibrant color and a sharp portrait, with moderate corner wear and light surface handling consistent with the VG-EX 4 grade. The reverse is clean and fully legible. It is an affordable entry into a classic Hall of Fame rookie. Encapsulated by PSA (Cert. #108500469).
