LeBron James is currently the face of the NBA. A 14-time NBA All-Star and three-time league champion (twice in Miami once in Cleveland) James was a superstar for St. Vincent-St. Mary’s High School in Akron Ohio who went straight to the NBA right out of high school. A three-time winner (2001 to ’03) of the Ohio Mr. Basketball Award James was destined to do great things on the professional level and has not disappointed.
This lot features his 2003 game-worn St. Vincent-St. Mary’s “Irish” High School home jersey that was used during the 9th Pangos Dream Classic Basketball Tournament. The official white mesh jersey includes the “ON SPORTS” manufacturer’s tag on the left front tail (size “XXL”) with washing instructions included. It reads “IRISH” arched across the chest in green tackle twill outlined in gold and includes the “Irish Man” logo screen-printed in black white and gold on the base of the V-neck collar. On both the left chest and just below the rear collar is the “adidas” logo screen-printed in green. The right chest area features an American flag ribbon embroidered in red white and blue. On the front as well as the back is his player number “23” in green tackle twill outlined in gold and his last name “JAMES” appears in similar arched fashion across the back. As it turns out the 9th Pangos Dream Classic Tournament was the only time that James and his teammates wore NOB (Names On Back) jerseys during their entire four-year careers at St. Vincent-St. Mary’s which makes this a highly sought-after gamer. During his senior year James averaged 31.6 points per game and then went on to become the NBA’s overall No. 1 draft pick on June 26 2003. The lot includes both a green pullover St. Vincent-St. Mary’s sweatshirt as well as a 2003 “Fighting Irish” National Champions t-shirt.
