The nickname "Charlie Hustle" bestowed upon Pete Rose can be depicted perfectly by clips of him running around the bases so frenetically that his helmet would often fall off. Few batting helmets donned by Rose have surfaced in the market. Presented here is one attributed to baseball's Hit King that dates to the late 1970's or his final stint with the Reds in the mid-1980's according to baseball expert John Taube.
The red helmet has a white Cincinnati "C" on the forehead and a "ROSE" Dymo label on the rear. Rose has autographed the left side in 6-7/10 black marker. It shows outstanding evidence of use on the outer shell and sweat staining on the padded leather head band inside. The interior has a gray foam pad at the top with what looks like smeared pine tar along the inner walls. and the underside of the bill is painted gray. American Baseball Cap manufacturer's tag indicating size 7 1/8 is very worn and faded. One of the finer examples you will find.
