Offered here is a pair of Dan Issel game-worn low-top sneakers from the late 1970's. The standout center/power forward who played under Adolph Rupp at the University of Kentucky had a 16-year career in the ABA and NBA (1970-85) mostly with the Denver Nuggets averaging 22.6 points and 9 rebounds per game. He made 6 All-Star teams and won an ABA title in 1975 with the Kentucky Colonels. He later coached in two different stints with the Nuggets. Issel was inducted into the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame in 1993. The size 15 white Converse All-Stars have "ISSEL" branded on the right shoe (faded away on the left) with the red Converse logo. They show tremendous wear inside and out perhaps a little too much as the left shoe has a significant 2" hole below the Converse logo. The laces are present and appear to be the originals.

Includes Letter of Provenance from collector Bruce Tennen.

Bruce Tennen's passion for Tigers baseball as a boy eventually lead him to pursue a career in the sports industry covering Arizona teams as an AP journalist in the late 70s and working in the front office for the San Diego Clippers in the early 80s. He would later move on to a successful career in mortgage banking arranging credit and acquisition funding for numerous Pistons players executives and broadcasters. Bruce has been fortunate enough to build relationships with dozens of professional athletes and team executives giving him the connections necessary to build his impressive collection.
