1956 NCAA Basketball National Championship medallion presented to Kentucky player Bill Smith for his participation in the tournament. Kentucky lost in the Midwest Finals to Iowa in the tournament that year. 1 1/2" in diameter medallion has athlete being crown with a wreath surrounded by "NATIONAL COLLEGIATE ATHLETIC ASSOCIATION FOUNDED 1906" on one side. Other has full body image of a basketball player with "NATIONAL COLLEGIATE BASKETBALL CHAMPIONSHIP" "UNIVERSITY DIVISION" and "'56".
LOA from consignor stating he acquired the medallion directly from Bill Smith.
