Two incredibly scarce 1948 London Olympics pieces issued to Kenny Rollins member of the USA Basketball Gold Medal winning team. The U.S. squad had little trouble getting the top spot on the podium winning all 8 games in blowouts and ultimately depositing France 65-21 in the final. Rollins was one of the vaunted "Fab Five" (with Ralph Beard Alex Groza Wallace Jones and Cliff Barker) from the 1948 Kentucky Wildcats that after winning the NCAA title sent all five players along with Coach Adolph Rupp to the London Olympics to double up on their triumph.
1) U.S. Olympic Team belt buckle measures 4cm by 2.75cm and is made of zinc alloy by Hickok (manufacturer). the front has 'UNITED STATES OLYMPIC TEAM LONDON 1948' next to a colorful vintage Team USA Olympic shield logo that encloses the five Olympic rings.
2) 1948 Olympic Games participation badge is made of an alloy metal measuring 5cm by 3 cm at full length with a pink ribbon flag that faintly reads 'BASKETBALL'. The metal badge is beautifully stamped 'XIV OLYMPIAD LONDON 1948' with a intricately detailed depiction of Big Ben and the Tower of London.
