In 1995 the Seattle Mariners won their very first A.L. Western Division title. An exciting one-game playoff with the then-California Angels at the end of the regular season decided the flag. The Ms went on to defeat the New York Yankees in five games in the divisional series before bowing to the Cleveland Indians in six games in the A.L.C.S. This lot features a game-used Seattle Mariners batting helmet worn by future Hall of Famer Ken Griffey Jr. during that memorable season in Seattle. Griffey who broke his left wrist on May 26th that season eventually returned to the lineup to lead Seattle on to victory. Playing in just 72 games that year he hit 17 home runs and drove in 42 runs. He also managed to secure his sixth straight Gold Glove award. The two-tone batting helmet (size 7 1/8) shows slight usage and includes Griffeys original number 24 on the back in white numerals. The original padding remains intact. The style of this helmet matches game photos from the 1995 season.
