It seems like every year now the MVP race in the American League comes down to Aaron Judge vs. the field. This season Mariners catcher Cal Raleigh broke out to challenge the Yankees slugger and at least make it interesting. This pounded Judge game-used bat has been photo-matched to two home runs from his monster 2024 campaign when the 6’ 7”, 280-lb. goliath nearly won the Triple Crown and settled for his 3rd career MVP award. Judge blasted 58 homers – his second-best tally to date – with a career-high 144 RBI to easily lead the A.L. in each category, and his .322 average was only ten points behind batting champ Bobby Witt Jr.
The Chandler professional model ‘AJ99.2’ two-toned maple bat with a black upper finish and flashy gold center brand shows an incredible amount of use. The model details including manufacturing order date range (April 14 to May 17, 2024), bat length (35”) and weight (33 oz.) are stamped on the front barrel, which has several loud contact marks visible under Judge’s striking 10/10 gold marker autograph and “game used 6-22-24” inscription. A heavy coat of pine tar covers the handle and there is a long, clean crack running up the upper handle, but it does not detract from the bat’s aesthetics. If anything, it just gives the bat more character and authenticity. Ball marks cover all sides of the barrel and there are bat rack streaks on the back side.
In all, Judge went 3-for-10 with two homers and a single in three June ’24 games using this bat as documented by detailed photo-match paperwork from Davious Sports and Game Used Gamers. An affixed MLB Authentication hologram (YP255961) records its final at-bat on June 22, 2024, in the bottom of the 5th inning when he flew out to center (and presumably cracked it) against Braves starter Charlie Morton. In the bottom of the 1st, he hit a two-run shot (career HR #285) to right off Morton in the Yanks’ 8-3 win. On June 16th in Boston, Judge homered over the Green Monster in left (career HR #283) off Red Sox starter Kutter Crawford in the first inning. He also used the bat on June 18th against the Orioles at home, going 1-for-2 with a single in a 4-2 win. Judge’s memorabilia partner Fanatics has authenticated the autograph and inscription with an affixed hologram. Due to the handle crack, we cannot guarantee that PSA/DNA bat expert John Taube would give this bat a perfect GU 10, but it should get at least a 9 or 9.5.
