Presented here is a Soviet Union (CCCP) National Team home jersey from a June 15, 1980 friendly against Brazil, worn by Russian midfielder Yuriy Gavrilov and preserved in the Oscar Bernardi Collection. Gavrilov was a key playmaker for Spartak Moscow and the Soviet national squad during this period, known for his exceptional technical brilliance and vision. After this 1980 match against with Brazil, Gavrilov and Oscar exchanged shirts, give this piece impeccable provenance.
The short-sleeve jersey comes in solid red with a white crew-neck collar and white Adidas three-stripe detailing along the shoulders. The left chest bears the Soviet state emblem badge, featuring the hammer and sickle on a globe, framed by wheat sheaves, in the distinctive CCCP national football style. White block lettering "CCCP" appears prominently across the chest in the iconic style associated with Soviet international football of the Cold War era. The reverse displays number "9" in white fabric. The shirt exhibits obvious wear with heavy fabric pilling throughout the body.
The Oscar Bernardi Collection
This shirt comes from the personal collection of José Oscar Bernardi, better known as Oscar, who played center-back for the Brazil National Team from 1977 to 1986. Included is a letter of provenance signed by Oscar. Most jerseys in the collection were obtained directly through player swaps after competition. Others were acquired via trade with footballers in Oscar’s wide network of teammates and friends. At age 71, he still resides in Brazil and is ready for his collection to be appreciated by others.
