Jackie Robinson was a part of one of the most defining moments in sports history when he broke baseball’s color barrier in 1947. This 1950 photo, taken July 3rd at the Polo Grounds against the crosstown rival New Giants, exemplifies the exceptional athletic prowess and determination that made Jackie the National League's MVP a year earlier. The sharp image with clean white borders shows Jackie sliding through 2nd base attempting to break up a double-play (unsuccessful according to the verso caption). The composition is dynamic, with dirt flying and Robinson's body contorted in the timely action shot. Jackie original photos are always heavily coveted, particularly those from early in his career, and this one is simply divine. Acme News stamp on the reverse. Outstanding condition overall. Comes encapsulated PSA/DNA Type 1.
