In the 1950 biopic, The Jackie Robinson Story, Jackie played himself and did a masterful job as an amateur actor, chronicling his daily battles with the horrific racism he faced while breaking baseball's color barrier and during his first three MLB seasons. This wonderful 8x10-inch original photograph taken on set shows Robinson on one knee as the umpire and an opposing player get nose-to-nose arguing a call during the film. Also pictured in this shot, according to the verso caption, are Nate di Francesco (who played football at UCLA with Jackie), Al Stringer (LMU grad and a longtime minor-leaguer), umpire Guilfoyle, and George Murphy (who played QB at USC).

The white borders have hairline creasing and show slight discoloration from age and wear. Three holes have been punched along the left edge from being stored in a binder. There are two notieable impressions (one more of a crease) on the surface running upwards in the sky background, but luckily neither affecting any of the subject images. A handwritten notation in black ("JR-67") appears on the lower right corner. The back has pencil notations identifying each actor with those details repeated on the attached paper caption. Overall, this classic black-and-white photograph still presents beautifully and represented an important piece of baseball and Americana/Hollywood history. Encapsulated as Type I by PSA/DNA.
