Los Angeles Angels outfielder Mike Trout has been nothing short of amazing since arriving in the big leagues back in 2011. After getting his feet wet in 40 games that first season Trout exploded in 2012 (his first full season) by leading the American League in runs scored (129) and stolen bases (49) as well as batting .326 with 29 doubles 30 home runs and 83 RBI. Not surprisingly he was named the A.L.’s Rookie of the Year and finished second in the A.L. MVP balloting behind Detroit’s Miguel Cabrera who just happened to record Major League Baseball’s first Triple Crown season since 1967. After again finishing second in the A.L. MVP race in 2013 Trout finally claimed the league’s top individual prize with another stellar campaign in 2014: .287 BA 36 home runs and 111 runs batted in.

This lot features Trout’s game used signed and inscribed Old Hickory MT27* model bat from that monster 2014 season. More specifically he used this special bat on July 10 and 11 to go 5-9 with two home runs five RBI and four runs scored in back-to-back Angels victories at the Texas Rangers during which he tallied his 500th career hit.The lower handle of the bat has been wrapped with adhesive tape to enhance the grip while a heavy coat of Mota Stick has been applied halfway up the handle. The bat is un-cracked and shows outstanding use with many ball marks and stitch impressions visible on the left and back barrel. Cleat marks can be seen on all sides along with the an impression from a weighted donut to the right of the label. Stamped into the bat’s barrel band is “33.5 PRO MAPLE MT27*” indicating length and model with the work order beneath reading “1312447-MT11” which is December 2013 work order 447 Trout’s initials and the 11th bat in that order. Trout added his signature to the barrel of the bat in shiny silver marker including the inscription “HR #21 HR #22 VS TEX MVP 14 G/U.”

On July 10 2014 Trout recorded his 500th career hit on an RBI single in the 2nd inning. He hit his 21st a 3-run homer in his next at bat (#21 on the season) and finished 4-5 with 4 RBI in the Angels’ 15-6 rout of the Rangers. Trout also went on to use this bat the following day July 11 to hit his 22nd home run and lead the Angels to another 3-0 win.

The bat handle is tagged with a hologram (#1421) from Anderson Authentics Trout’s memorabilia dealer. Mike Trout himself has signed a COA for this bat confirming its use for his 21st and 22nd homer runs of the 2014 season. Includes LOA (#1B11326) from John Taube of PSA/DNA with a perfect GU 10 grade. Autograph and inscription pre-certified by PSA/DNA.
