Substantial 18" tall by 8" in diameter gold metal Trophy presented to 5 Gold Medal winning Olympic swimmer Johnny Weissmuller by the Helms Athletic Foundation for being named the Greatest Swimmer of the 1st half of the 20th Century. Weissmuller went on to movie stardom playing in the very popular Tarzan movies of the 1930's and 1940's. 4 1/2" tall swimming figure on front with 7 1/4" victory figure on top. "HELMS ATHLETIC FOUNDATION" printed on ring above engraving. Front engraving reads "SWIMMING HALL OF FAME JOHN WEISSMULLER CHOSEN GREATEST SWIMMER 1900-1950 BY ASSOCIATED PRESS". 7 1/4" tall victory figure separated from top but should be an easy repair. Beautiful piece!
