The heroic Jackie Robinson broke Major League Baseball’s color barrier onApril 15 1947. He won National League Rookie of the Year honors in ‘47and just two years later was named MVP of the National League. His career resume and importance to the game of baseball and racial integration in all of the sports world needs no further introduction. LeRoy Neiman is considered by most to be the finest sports artist ever and perhaps one of America's greatest artists period having covered the Olympics Muhammad Ali and other legendary athletes. His vibrant abstract Expressionist style is on full display in this 11.5" by 16.5" 50th Anniversary print of "Jackie Robinson - Entering the Big Leagues - 1947" the original of which was done in 1996.
Neiman has autographed the print honoring Jackie's courageous feat in bold 9/10 black marker on the bottom right below his silver printed artist signature. At the base of this beautiful display is a large Jackie Robinson cut signature (with his patented "Best Wishes" inscription) in striking blue ballpoint that easily rates 9+/10 in our book. With a black matting and custom dark brown wooden frame the total measurement is 18” by 26”. Hard to find a piece like this holding both Neiman and Jackie autographs.
