Atlanta Braves Hall of Fame slugger Hank Aaron broke Babe Ruths longstanding home run record of 714 round-trippers on April 8 1974 when he launched Al Downings fourth-inning offering into the leftfield bullpen at the old Atlanta-Fulton County Stadium. Although Dodgers outfielder Bill Buckner nearly went over the outfield wall trying to catch it the ball landed in the Braves' bullpen where Braves relief pitcher Tom House caught it. This lot includes an autographed framed and matted 16 x 20 black-and-white photo taken from center field showing Aaron watching the flight of his milestone home run. His prominent signature appears clearly in silver Sharpie and rates 8-9/10 in our book. The overall size of the frame which includes a specially engraved black-and-silver plaque that reads Hank Aaron Atlanta Braves measures 30 wide by 27 high. A terrific piece of sports memorabilia from a moment of true historical significance.
