In the 1960’s the Green Bay Packers and their legendary head coach Vince Lombardi became defined by one play: the power sweep. It was a play that Lombardi had his team practice religiously and execute in game after game. It became the team’s staple play and one that the Packers’ offense was able to employ to perfection. Whether the ball carrier was Jim Taylor or Paul Hornung the pulling guards cleared a path like raging bulldozers. Jerry Kramer and Fuzzy Thurston usually provided the blocking and opposing defenders wound up on their backsides more often than not.This lot features a 16” by 20” color photo showing running back Paul Hornung (5) having just taken the hand-off from quarterback Bart Starr (15) following the blocking of both Kramer (64) Thurston (63) and even fellow running back Jim Taylor (31) in a game against the Detroit Lions. The triple-signed print is autographed by Hornung Kramer and Thurston who each added their uniform number after their signatures. This is a great photograph showing what the vintage Packers did best and that was to execute a Lombardi's favorite play to perfection.Pre-certified by PSA/DNA.
