Former major league catcher and first baseman Gene Tenace played 15 seasons in the big leagues but also served as a major league coach once he retired. He coached with the Toronto Blue Jays for eight seasons from 1990 to 1997 and during that time acted in that capacity during several MLB All-Star games. This lot includes a pair of keepsakes Tenace was awarded while serving as a coach for Toronto in the American League. The first is an All-Time Attendance Record appreciation award he received from the Blue Jays after the 91 season that reflected not only Toronto hosting the 91 All-Star Game that season but also the fact that the SkyDome set a new attendance record that year by cracking the four-million mark for the season. The second is a brass plate that Tenace was awarded for serving as a coach at the 1994 MLB All-Star Game. It is specially engraved with his name team event date and location of the game (July 12 1994 Three Rivers Stadium Pittsburgh).
