The annual NFL Draft has emerged into a media frenzy since its humble beginnings. Now its a major media circus that takes over Radio City Music Hall every spring. This lot boasts a special collection of 28 original NFL Draft pins representing 25 NFL Drafts (1983 to 2007) and three NFL Expansion Drafts (95 99 and 02). The beautifully framed display has each of the various pins some in the shape of football helmets while many are simply reminiscent of that years draft accompanied by a nameplate that indicates the year as well as the top overall pick and the team that drafted him No. 1. The collection stretches from John Elway (Baltimore Colts) in 1983 all the way to JaMarcus Russell (Oakland Raiders) in 2007. The overall item measures 17.5 wide by 21 tall.

We have chosen not to open the back of the frame to avoid tampering with and damaging such a beautiful display. The consignor spent over a decade working as an integral part of the company that designed and produced press pins for the NFL. Based on the consignor's detailed recollection of acquiring each piece and his background working in conjunction with the NFL we are confident that each pin therein is 100% original as was presented to the media. As far as the consignor knows all pinbacks are attached on the reverse side of the black velvet backing. An awesome piece of NFL memorabilia for any football fan and it comes courtesy of a collector who attended almost every NFL draft.

Includes a Letter of Provenance from collector Robert Zweigle.

The Robert Zweigle collection represents 40 years of assembling sports memorabilia items from college and professional football professional golf and NCAA basketball. Bob Zweigle was a major supplier of promotional products to the NFL who personally attended 38 Super Bowls working closely with NFL personnel and establishing unique connections that helped grow his collection. He designed/produced Super Bowl press pins from XXV through XXXIX (the final year the NFL produced its own pins). He also designed/produced the Player Participation Trophy and Player of the Game Trophy for the Pro Bowl as well as the Arena Bowl Championship Trophy. He made it a personal quest to obtain in-person autographs on important memorabilia items at many sporting events wherein he had rare and unusual access.
