Extraordinary October 30 1965 one page typed signed letter from former World Heavyweight Boxing Champion on his own letterhead to a fan speaking about his upcoming fight with Champion Muhammad Ali. Patterson has signed the letter in perfect 9-10/10 vintage blue ball point pen. Calling the letter "one of the most interesting and sincere" he had ever received Patterson speaks openly his thoughts about the current Champion. "As to Clay I can't speak for him as I don't know him very well. All I can say is He's still young and unfortunately the Muslims have really changed him a lot. I believe it is part of their religion to preach hatred toward whites and in this day and age I feel it is one of the worst things they could do. Maybe if Clay would lose just one fight at this stage in his life He would act a little less arrogant I don't know." He goes on to tell the fan that he will do his best in the fight and is "real anxious to win back the Crown before I retire" Patterson lost to a TKO in the 12th round of their 15 round bout on November 22 in Las Vegas. Letter itself in pretty nice condition with several "age spots" along both sides. Original return envelope from Patterson in fair condition also included. Interesting insight from the popular boxer known as the "Gentleman of Boxing".
