There was even the defeat in the 1951 playoff to the New York Giants when Bobby Thomson's "shot heard 'round the world" broke hearts across Brooklyn. Their last 5 Series losses were all at the hands of the New York Yankees. Finally in 1955 Brooklyn pulled off their first and only World Series victory over their pinstriped nemesis in an unforgettable 7 game nail-biter. This superb slightly off-white ONL (Giles) ball from their greatest season features 23 signatures including: Walt Alston(HOF)(SS) Don Bessent Roger Craig Carl Erskine Carl Furillo Jim Gilliam Billy Herman(HOF) Don Hoak Gil Hodges Dixie Howell Frank Kellert Sandy Koufax(HOF) Clem Labine Billy Loes Russ Meyer Don Newcombe Pee Wee Reese(HOF) Jackie Robinson(HOF) Ed Roebuck Duke Snider(HOF) Karl Spooner Rube Walker Don Zimmer. The beautiful evenly matching blue ink signatures average 9/10. "1955" is written in another hand very neatly in the same ink right below Alston's signature on the sweet spot. Comes with the original Spalding bag in which it has been kept since 1955. One of the nicest 1955 Dodger team balls weve handled.
