Wade Flaherty played in the NHL for the Sharks Islanders Lighting Panthers and Predators. In addition he played on numerous teams in the American (AHL) and International (IHL) Hockey Leagues. From 1990-94 he had stints with the Kansas City Blades of the IHL with whom he sported this lovely black goalie mask with bald eagles air-brushed on each side. Odd design for a team called the Blades but goalies often live in their own world as hockey fans well know. The mask shows appropriate wear inside and out with scratches and scuff marks throughout. There is a minor crack by the left earhole. The internal chin strap is still attached; although the neck protector is not. Inside the mask just below the left ear is a sticker with "Wade Flaherty 31" marked in black felt pen most likely by the equipment manager. Strangely enough inside the forehead area is what appears to be a Boston Bruins logo sticker. Mask designer "B.Lundy" painted on outer left side.

Includes a Letter of Provenance from The Newport Sports Museum.
