This lot defines the word vintage. Offered here is a two-tiered lot consisting of an early 1900s wool baseball uniform manufactured by Goldsmith and a vintage turn-of-the-last-century (cracked) bat produced by AG Spalding & Bros. Uniform fabrics in 1900 were either 100% wool flannel or a blend of wool and cotton. Summer temperatures and humidity were no different than they are today and the idea of playing baseball weighted down with these heavy uniforms seems unthinkable nowadays. But this gray and faded red pinstriped uniform was no doubt very hot (literally) to wear. The jersey (size unknown) and accompanying pants show noticeable signs of use with team repairs exhibited on the pants. The bat is a fine full size 33.5 hand-turned AG Spalding No. 200 model baseball that has retained its full original black "AG Spalding & Bros" logo at the center brand area. Model "No. 000" labeling is also undisturbed at the center area flanked by "Wagon" and "Tongue" lettering. The 38-ounce bat which shoes a slight foot-long crack in the handle presents quite well. The name engraved in the bat barrel (Guy McDaniel) is thought to be the original owner.
