During the summer of 2004 the USA Men's Basketball Team descended upon Athens Greece for the Summer Olympic Games. With a team boasting the likes of Tim Duncan LeBron James Allen Iverson and Dwyane Wade you would think the United States easily earned the gold medal. However after going 3-2 in their Group B bracket the Americans defeated Spain 102-94 in the quarterfinals before being ousted by eventual gold medal winning Argentina 89-81. The U.S. men's team did bounce back to defeat Lithuania 104-96 to win the bronze medal.
This lot features Dwyane Wade's 2004 Athens Olympic Games USA Basketball Team ring. Produced by the O.C. Tanner Jewelry Company the size 9 features an arch-design on each side that replicates the entrance archway leading into the original Olympic stadium and the ring shanks resemble ancient Greek pillars. The top of the ring is engraved "OLYMPIC TEAM" with the five Olympic Rings engraved in the center. One shank reads "ATHENS" above the Olympic basketball symbol followed by the word "BASKETBALL" underneath it. The other shanks reads "GREECE" with the USA Olympic Team symbol and "2004 Team" underneath it followed by "D. Wade." The inside of the band is marked "@CTO" by the manufacturer.
