Beautiful 14K Gold 1988 Los Angeles Dodgers World Series Championship ring presented to long time Dodger scout Don Gutteridge. The Series is best remembered for Kirk Gibson's dramatic pinch-hit game winning home run in the bottom of the ninth inning off Oakland relief ace Dennis Eckersley in Game 1 at Dodger Stadium. The Dodgers went on to take the Series in 5 games. Gutteridge spent a lifetime in baseball as a player coach manager and scout. For 12 years he performed as a player in the big leagues being both a member of the famed St. Louis Cardinals gas house gang in the 1930's and also for the St. Louis Browns in 1944 when they won their only American League pennant. He also played for the Boston Red Sox and Pittsburgh Pirates. He briefly managed the Chicago White Sox in 19691970. In his later years he became a scout a position he held with the Los Angeles Dodgers from 1975 through his retirement in 1992. The 14K yellow gold ring has a single diamond inset on a blue back stone encircled by smaller diamonds. "World Champion Dodgers 1988" encircles the bezel. One side displays the "LA" logo with "GUTTERIDGE" above. The other side has the Dodgers script logo above a rendering of a World Series trophy in relief. Stamped "Balfour 14K" on the interior band.
