Just two years removed from their 1963 World Series championship the Dodgers bounced back to win the National League pennant with a record of 97-65 two games ahead of the San Francisco Giants. On the mound Los Angeles was once again led by the dueling fastballs thrown by southpaw Sandy Koufax (26-8) and righty Don Drysdale (23-12) who powered the Dodgers to victory over the Minnesota Twins in a thrilling seven-game World Series. Beyond Drysdales pitching prowess that season his hitting ability truly shined as well. Not only did he bat .300 for the season but he belted seven home runs and drove in 19 runs to boot. Drysdale finished fifth in the balloting for NL MVP that year behind winner Willie Mays of the Giants.

This lot features Drysdales 1965 Los Angeles Dodgers game-worn home uniform. The classic flannel jersey boasts "Dodgers" rising across the chest in blue felt script and Drysdales long-since-retired number "53" applied below it in red. The same numbers reappear larger (eight inches tall) on the reverse in blue. Lower left front tail is properly tagged "TIM MCAULIFFE INC." above year (65) and size (46) tags as well as an embroidered in blue script Drysdale nameplate sewn directly on the jersey. The jerseys seven original white/beige buttons remain intact. The matching Dodgers flannel pants are tagged "TIM MCAULIFFE INC." at interior waistband next to a sewn-on year (65) tag. To the left of the manufacturers tag is Drysdale chain-stitched in blue script while his waist size (38) and inseam (33) are both chain-stitched to the right. The four original white buttons sewn into the fly area remain intact as do the single buttons sewn into both back pockets. The pants show good game use with dirt stains evident throughout and a noticeable team repair on the right knee area.

Includes LOA from the Drysdale Family.
