Offered here is a complete Lionel Messi match-issued uniform set from the 2022 FIFA World Cup Final played December 18, 2022, at Lusail Stadium in Lusail, Qatar — the epic match in which Leo's famous brace helped Argentina defeat France despite Mbappe's hat trick to claim the championship.
This uniform set was procured from an Argentine collector with close connections to a staff member for the Argentine National Team. Before the 2022 World cup, the consignor asked his Argentine contact to save a home and away set from as far as Argentina would advance. Three weeks after the tournament ended, he was able to get an away set from Argentina vs. Poland in the group stage (Lot 485) and this home set from the Final vs. France, including a captain's armband prepared for Messi. Each player would have multiple full kits (matching jerseys, shorts and socks) prepared for him before each match. Messi would usually get five kits plus extra armbands as the team captain. The players would bring their own cleats and shin guards to the dressing room in their own bags.
The Adidas home jersey is presented in Argentina's classic sky blue and white vertical stripes with black trim, bearing the AFA two-star crest and "10" on the chest, with "MESSI" and "10" on the reverse. Printed below the Adidas logo: "FRANCE / 18 DECEMBER 2022 / LUSAIL STADIUM." Both sleeves display the official FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 patch and "Football Unites the World" badge. The set includes matching white shorts shorts with the AFA crest and number 10, white knee socks with gold AFA monogram, and the blue "Football Unites the World" captain's armband.
