Cleveland Municipal Stadium was home to the Cleveland Indians from 1932-1993 and the Cleveland Browns from 1946-1995. The stadium was demolished in 1996 to make way for FirstEnergy Stadium the current home of the Cleveland Browns. The stadium located just south of Lake Erie was known for the biting cold winds that would blow into the stadium in winter and its lights attracted swarms of midges and mayflies during hot summer nights. For those reasons the stadium earned the nickname "Mistake by the Lake". Who could forget the center field bleacher fans at Browns football games affectionately known as the Dawg Pound?
Measuring 49"-tall and 30-1/2"-wide this seat coupling features three-panel wooden back rests and wooden folding seats. These elements are securely fastened within a sturdy metal framework with curved armrests. Curiously the right hand seat has been kept in original (well worn) condition while the left hand seat has been fully refurbished making for an interesting visual dynamic.
Includes a Letter of Provenance from The Newport Sports Museum.
