When Mickey Mantle made his debut with the Yankees writer Leonard Schecter said of him He has a face as open as the part of America that he came from. So there he was a kid of 19 already heralded as the second coming of Babe Ruth or at the very least the legitimate successor to Joe DiMaggio. When he hits the ball it even sounds different. they said about him. Hes got it in his body to be great added grizzled manager Casey Stengel who had been around long enough to qualify as an expert. Such expectations are hard to measure up to but Mantle did and then some. He started slow with the Yankees even finding himself farmed out to Kansas City for fine tuning at one point early in his career. However by the mid-1950s when the tape-measure homers boomed off his bat and the RBI and runs accumulated Mantles destiny took shape. Mantle played in more than 2000 games and hit 536 home runs. He played in twelve World Series won three MVP awards a Triple Crown (1956) and became one of the most idolized men ever to don Yankee pinstripes.

The offered bat is Mantles Hillerich & Bradsby D113 signature model. Dating from the 1965-66 era the 35 inch 32.75 ounce specimen remains uncracked showing signs that it was likely used by The Mick to belt an untold number of titanic home runs near the end of his prolific career. There is visible use throughout including ball marks and ball stitch marks on the left and back barrel. Also visible are red bat rack streaks and spike marks. The model number is stamped on the knob and the bat weight (32 3/4) is written in blue ink. This is a fine Mantle gamer in all respects with excellent display quality.

Includes LOAs from MEARS (Graded A7) and John Taube of PSA/DNA (Graded GU7).
