Circa 1870 Half Plate tintype featuring a portrait of a young baseball in uniform. Letter on bib front could be either an "I" "J" or "S". Striking crystal clear image. A small amount of flaring at the upper top left of image. Tintype housed in a 5" by 6" leather frame. Originally sold in Mark Rucker's November 7th 1995 Auction. Outstanding photographic glimpse almost 150 years into baseball's past.
