In 1992 the U.S. Mens basketball team captured the gold medal in dominating fashion at the Barcelona Summer Olympic Games. Coached by the late Chuck Daly and dubbed the "Dream Team" they represented the first American Olympic squad to feature active professional NBA players and proved to be unstoppable. They annihilated each opponent they played by an average of almost 44 points per game in capturing the gold medal. They defeated Croatia in the championship game by the score of 117-85 close by their standards but blew out earlier opponents by the following margins: Angola (68 points); Croatia (the first time 33); Germany (43); Brazil (44); Spain (41); Puerto Rico (38); and Lithuania (51).
This lot features an official Molten Barcelona 92 Olympic Games basketball thats been signed by 11 of the 12 team members as well as all three team coaches: Daly Mike Krzyzewski and Lenny Wilkens. Every player with the exception of Chris Mullin signed the basketball with black marker: Michael Jordan; Larry Bird; Magic Johnson; Clyde Drexler; Karl Malone; John Stockton; David Robinson; Patrick Ewing; Charles Barkley; Scottie Pippen; and Christian Laettner. Its extremely rare to have this many notable members of the Dream Team on one ball so this is a significant piece of sports memorabilia from one of the greatest teams ever assembled.
Includes copy of LOA from Terry Daly Chuck's widow. Also comes with Letter of Provenance from Rich Behar owner of SportsCard Central who acquired many items directly from the Daly estate in 2010.
