Vintage pair of ladies bowling shoes each one signed by The Great Bambino and a few others including Doc Severinsen from the Tonight Show. The consignor's grandmother (pictured with Ruth) was a friend of Ruth's. During the late 1930's (circa 1938-39) they apparently bowled fished and hunted together near her home in Warwick NY. The 8" x 10" photograph is included with the shoes which belonged to Babe's female companion.

Measuring approximately a women's size 8 the shoes remain in remarkable condition. The beige leather canvas material has no punctures or scratches the multicolored laces are completely intact and only the sole of the right show shoes significant wear. The only blemishes are the pen marks from various signatures. Fortunately "Babe Ruth" in 6-7/10 blue ballpoint is the largest and most legible. It is positioned in the most prominent position on the outside of each shoe over a yellowish preservation tape substance designed to hold the signature - and that is has for a few generations. The only other legible autograph worth mentioning is "Doc" (Severinsen) located on the same side as Babe's just much smaller and more conspicuous. Doc directed the Tonight Show band during Johnny Carson's tenure and sometimes stood in for Ed McMahon as Johnny's sidekick. The consignor's grandmother's name "Virginia" is printed in blue pen on the outside of each shoe as well. What a unique item to hold the legendary Babe Ruth's autograph!

Includes 2 Full LOAs from PSA/DNA (1 for each shoe).
