Jackie Robinson and Willie Mays were two of the major trailblazers in the game of baseball in the early 1950s. Mays made his debut in '51, four years after Jackie broke the color barrier, and the two helped legends like Roberto Clemente and Hank Aaron break into the league in the mid-50s. Offered here is a never-before-seen original photograph of the two together during a matchup between the Brooklyn Dodgers and New York Giants at Ebbets Field (based on their uni styles). The two walk together with a smile on Jackie’s face as fellow Dodgers Hall of Famer Pee Wee Reese says something to them.

The reverse is blank except for a pen notation along the left and bottom edge that falsely identifies the Giants player as Hank Thompson or Monte Irvin with an inaccurate date of 1949. Photo authenticator Henry Yee of PSA/DNA was able to confirm the Black man lowering his head as the Say Hey Kid, meaning it had to be taken in the 1950s. With clean white borders and no surface, corner or edge issues whatsoever, this beauty is nearly flawless in condition and clarity.
