Will Jones was a 6’ 8” forward selected in the fifth roundof the 1969 NBA Draft by the Los Angeles Lakers and also taken by the Miami Floridians in the 1969 ABA Draft. He wound up playing seven seasons (1969-76) in the American Basketball Association (ABA) as a member of the Miami Floridians Memphis Pros Memphis Tams and Kentucky Colonels. This lot features Jones’ game-worn jersey while playing with the Tams circa 1972-74 a team that lasted just twoseasons in the league. On the front right tail of the jersey is the “Rawlings” manufacturer’s tag with size “46” and washing instructions. Across the front reads “MEMPHIS”. Adjacent below and on back is the player number “11”. Across the back in semi-circular fashion is “JONES.” All lettering and numbering is done in yellow on green tackle twill. This jersey represents one of the rare jerseys still in existence from the lovable team down south which got its name – an acronym really – from its fan base which covered Tennessee Arkansas andMississippi.
