This 1960s-printed Type II photo shows the young Giants rookie Willie Mays in the dugout at New York’s Polo Grounds in 1951. Along with being featured in many baseball history books and Mays biographies, this photo was also used for his 1952 Berk Ross and 1953 and 1954 Briggs Meats baseball cards. The front of this well-known Type II photo shows nice toning throughout with some edge wear from age. The back of the photo has several National Baseball Hall of Fame Library stamps along with hand written notations and some glue residue. A great iconic rookie-year photo of Willie Mays that would display nicely beside the baseball cards that used the same image. This photo has been encapsulated and graded a Type II photo by PSA/DNA.
