Featured here is an original Sam Snead match-used putter handmade and designed for the Hall of Fame legend. Snead used this side-saddle putter at a number of Senior PGA events beginning in the early 1960's. In fact he states in the accompanying letter that this putter was among a small group he used in winning six U.S. Senior PGA championships and five World Senior PGA championships. Sam Snead is the all-time leader in PGA Tour victories with 82 (Woods is 2nd with 79; Nicklaus is 3rd with 73). He won seven major championships including three times at Augusta. In 1965 at the age of 52 he became (and still is) the oldest ever to win a PGA Tour event. Two years later he became the oldest to make a major cut and still holds that record as well.
The putter has a compact silver-toned metallic head engraved "Cheetah BY LYNX" on the bottom. It has a steel shaft with a unique triple grip combination for Snead's comfort. The club measures 37 1/2" and displays solid use with noticeable wear on the upper grip and some marks on the blade. A now hardened piece of white tape is found on the saddle section. The putter comes with a typed signed letter from Sam Snead dated 10/19/1996. It also includes a Letter of Provenance signed by his son Jack Snead.
