This circa 1947 original photograph of Warren Spahn served as the source image for his 1947-66 Exhibit card, one of the longest-running and most recognizable issues in the vintage card hobby. Spahn, the winningest left-handed pitcher in Major League history with 363 victories, was the anchor of the Boston and Milwaukee Braves pitching staffs for two decades. Source photographs used in the production of trading cards are exceptionally prized by collectors, as they represent the original artwork from which iconic collectibles were created. Authenticated as PSA/DNA Type 1, this photograph connects directly to one of the hobby's most enduring card issues. A fascinating piece of photographic and card collecting history.
