Howie Dallmar was a mainstay in the old Basketball Association ofAmerica (BAA). He was a 6’ 4” forward who played in college atStanford University and led the Cardinal to the 1942 NCAA Championshipwhere he was named the tournament’s Most Outstanding Player. Aftergraduation Dallmar became a pivotal member of the Philadelphia Warriorsand he helped power that club to the league’s inaugural championship inthe 1946-47 campaign. He was so good that he was named to the 1948All-BAA team. During his three-season tenure – which coincided with theBAA becoming the NBA – Dallmar wore this Philadelphia Warriors homejersey.
An absolutely gorgeous hardwood relic the cream-colored dureenpullover garment features “PHILA” arched across the chest in red-on-bluefelt with his uniform number “12” sewn to the front and back in likefashion. Red-and-yellow striped stretch ribbed cotton lines the collarand arm yokes and the interior of the vented left rear tail is home to apartially detached “Pearson” local manufacturer’s label. Just belowthat a stitched outline remains from a since-removed tag. All originaland unaltered this vintage hardwood apparel shows solid game wear buthas been well preserved. The felt identifiers still show vibrant huesand are free of pilling and separation commonly found on jerseys fromthis era. The item originates from the personal collection ofPhiladelphia hoops fixture Harvey Pollack who obtained it from formerWarriors owner Eddie Gottlieb when he sold the club to a San Franciscogroup in 1962.
Includes LOA from Pollack the lone NBA employee who has been there since the league’s inception.
