When it comes to intercollegiate football field goals the longest drop-kick version was 63 yards made by Mark Payne of Dakota Wesleyan versus Northwestern Normal on Oct. 16 1915. This lot includes the pair of stacked leather football cleats worn by Payne to make that magnificent kick. The brown leather Spalding shoes measure exactly 11 inches long from base of heel to tip of toe and both include their original 10 cleats per. Though the brown shoe laces no longer match they both appear to be period shoe laces from that era. The shoes show substantial wear but remain in pretty good condition.
