This offered December 21, 1970 Sports Illustrated "Sportsman of the Year" (Volume 33, Issue 25) magazine autographed by SI's famed award winner, Bobby Orr, is one of the finer conditioned examples in the market. The cover features a classic portrait of Orr in his Boston Bruins white uni. Orr has autographed the magazine on the left hand side with his iconic "#4" inscribed in shiny 10/10 silver permanent marker for excellent eye appeal. Orr played ten glorious seasons with the Bruins, earning the Calder Trophy his rookie year of 1966-67, three Hart trophies as league MVP, nine All-Star selections, and an unprecedented eight straight Norris trophies as the NHL's top defenseman. CGC has encapsulated and given this magazine a 9.0 Very Fine/Near Mint grade. It is the second highest graded example overall with only one "Universal" copy superior at 9.4 Near Mint. (There are only 14 total graded examples in the CGC Census, and only two above 8.5 Very Fine+. This is likely the highest graded signed version in the CGC Census.) Beckett has certified the autograph. Also comes with a COA from Great North Road.
