Racing fans heres something you dont see every day. A bag and full set of golf clubs used by the late great Bobby Isaac enriched with an autograph on the bag from The King himself Richard Petty. It comes courtesy of the Babe & George Zaharias Golf Foundation.

Bobby Isaac may not have had Richard Pettys reputation as The King of NASCAR but he was a Hall of Fame driver in his own right. Isaac won 37 Winston Cup (then called the Grand National Division) races in his NASCAR career including 11 in 1970 when he was the overall champion. He still holds NASCARs record for most poles (20) in a single year (1969). The man was a fearless competitor who also set 28 land speed world records in 1971 on the salt flats of Utah. In 1977 Isaac pulled over in the middle of a race and suffered a fatal heart attack at just 45 years of age.

Isaac was not a big golfer so after playing in the 1968 Dodge Open charity golf tournament he gave his bag and clubs his friend George Zaharias. George was celebrating what would have been his 30th wedding anniversary with Babe (she died in 1956) so the gift served as a nice donation to the foundation years later. The president of the foundation Hal Shaw got Richard Petty to sign the bag in silver at a NASCAR event in Richmond VA a few years ago. Three photos of this signing are included.

The MacGregor black leather bag is very good condition with all straps zippers and pockets completely functional and intact. 1968 DODGE OPEN with THE DODGE BOYS logo is stamped on the bag. Isaac raced with Dodge his entire career and Petty switched from the Plymouth to Dodge in 1972. The clubs all showing good use are:

Putter: Spalding Cash-In 35" stainless steel

Irons: 2-PW Pedersen 100 stainless steel

Driver/Woods: 1 3W 5W & 7W H.B. Custom 'The Club House' with brown knitted headcovers

Comes with a letter of provenance from the Babe & George Zaharias Golf Foundation Inc. of Tampa Florida. The foundation was founded by Hal Shaw Zaharias' former caddie who toed the bag for the 10-time Women's Major Champion starting in the late 1940's. Since 2002 the foundation has served individuals with disabilities from Shriner Hospital and Camp Florida.

Petty autograph pre-certified by PSA/DNA.
