Powered by the starting pitching of Tommy John a 20-game winner and the powerful bats of Steve Garvey and Dusty Baker the 1977 Dodgers were a force to be reckoned with in the National League. It was certainly one of Bill Russell's greatest seasons as he established career highs in at bats (634) stolen bases (16) and runs (84). The Dodgers would win 23 of their final 35 regular season games and cruise into the playoffs with a 10-game lead in the NL West. The 1977 NL Championship Series pitted the Dodgers against the Philadelphia Phillies winners of 101 regular-season games. After losing the first game of the series in Los Angeles the Dodgers would go on to win the next three games two in Philadelphia to take the National League pennant and the right to face the Yankees in the World Series.This size 11 14k gold ring is in Nr-Mt condition and weighs 33 grams. The top panel reads DODGERS - NATIONAL LEAGUE CHAMPIONS surrounding a casted image of a baseball diamond with four small round-cut diamonds totaling .20 carats for the bases and home plate and a .50-carat sapphire stone in the center. The left panel features a casted image of a pennant engraved with "Russell" and the Dodgers ascending baseball script logo and his No. 18. The right panel features a casted image of the Dodgers jet in the clouds symbolizing the teams road victories in the NLCS. Below that is the interlocking LA logo and 1977. The inside of the Balfour ring is stamped LGB 14K. The ring is in NM overall condition and comes in an attractive grey felt display box. Comes with a Letter of Authenticity from Bill Russell.
