Inspiring OAL(Brown) baseball double signed and inscribed Bert Shepard World War II Hero and the only player to pitch in a major league game with an artificial leg. The ball itself tells the story: "I LOST MY RT. LEG WHEN SHOT DOWN OVER GERMANY IN WW II. I GOT A NEW LEG AND PITCHED FOR THE WASHINGTON SENATORS VS THE BOSTON RED SOX ON AUG. 14 1945 + GAVE UP 1 RUN + 3 HITS IN 5 1/3 INNINGS. At the end of this he has signed in 9/10 looking black felt tip pen. Across the sweet spot he has further added "I'M PROUD + HAPPY I HAD THE OPPORTUNITY TO FLY THE P-38 + SERVE MY COUNTRY. After this he has again signed in 9/10 looking black felt tip pen. Incredible true story!
