This is a handsome piece of artwork commemorating one of the truly heartbreaking moments in baseball history when Babe Ruth came to Yankee Stadium for "Babe Ruth Day" on April 26 1947 a little more than a year before he would die from throat cancer. In a nice bit of black-and-white artwork done in lithographer's crayon The Babe is pictured in civilian clothes looking out toward right field at Yankee Stadium. Done by the well-known newspaper editorial cartoonist Burris Jenkins Jr. the print is signed by Ruth in spectacular fashion in the lower right-hand corner of the print directly below the artist's signature and personalization. The whole piece is nicely framed in a black and silver-textured wood frame under glass to overall dimensions of 15-by-11 inches with elements in essentially as-issued and problem-free condition.
