The great Bambino Babe Ruth was not only a clutch performer during the regular MLB season but also the consummate showman during the off-season. Toward that end Ruth would often orchestrate and compete himself in barnstorming All-Star tours across the country and sometimes across the globe to treat fans to an exciting exhibition of baseball.

This lot features a Babe Ruth autographed 1931 Wrigley Field (Los Angeles) scorecard from one of Ruth’s barnstorming tours. He signed the scorecard which measures 14” wide by 11.25” high in pencil and his autograph is placed perpendicular to the lineup of “Burns’” All-Stars who Ruth’s All-Stars battled that day. The Wrigley Field ballpark in south L.A. was built in 1925 and served as host to Minor League Baseball teams in the region for more than 30 years. Called Wrigley's "Million Dollar Palace” Wrigley Field was named after William Wrigley Jr. the chewing gum magnate. The autograph as procured by the consignor's grandfather who had box seats just about Babe's dugout that day.
