Here is an intriguing pair of publications from the time when the American Basketball Association and the National Basketball Association were making the first tentative steps toward a merger that would halt a decade of expensive bidding for top talent. The pubs come from the personal collection of legendary sports columnist Pete Vecsey on hand for the history-making events that would eventually give rise to the behemoth modern NBA that would ultimately emerge. The first piece is a 1972 ABA All-Star Game Program 8 ½-by-11 inches 40 pages and in Excellent condition with autographs from many of the top names of the time most in ballpoint on the respective player's profile page inside. The lineup includes: Barry Beaty Brisker Erving Melchionni and Charlie Scott. The second piece is a 1972 ABA-NBA Super Game Player Profile Kit 8 ½-by-11 inches with cover folder and 12 typewritten pages inside of player profiles and autographs from Barry Mel Daniels (2) Erving Freeman Brown Gilmore Issel Simpson Jimmy Jones Steve Jones Thompson and Wise. The glossy cover folder has red and blue printing on the cover along with an Al Bianchi autograph - cover folder and inside pages are Ex-Mt. Comes with a Letter of Authenticity from the Peter Vecsey Collection.
