Here are shoes from two giants of the ABA and NBA Artis Gilmore and Dan Issel both game-worn and signed by the twoHall of Famers. A star center during his two collegiate years at Jacksonville University Gilmore led the Dolphins to the NCAA Division I championship game in 1970 where his team was beaten 80-69 by the UCLA Bruins. Gilmore followed five All-Star seasons with the Kentucky Colonels of the ABA by becoming the 1st overall pick of the 1976 NBA dispersal draft which was held after the ABA was disbanded as four teams transferred to the NBA. In Gilmore's complete pro basketball career he was an 11-time All-Star the ABA Rookie of the Year and an ABA MVP and he remains the NBA career leader for field goal percentage.

After an All-America college career at Kentucky Dan Issel was pursued by the Detroit Pistons of the NBA and the Kentucky Colonels of the ABA with choosing the latter. In his first season he led the ABA in scoring with an average of 29.9 points per game and pulled down 13.2 rebounds per game. Led by dominating 7-2 center Artis Gilmore the 197475 Colonels won the 1975 ABA championship with key support from Issel and sharp-shooting guard (and fellow ex-Kentucky Wildcat) Louie Dampier. In six seasons Issel led the league in total points three times (including a record 2538 in 1971-72) and was an All-Star each year. A trade brought Issel to Denver as the two leagues merged in 1976 and he remained with the Nuggets following the merger. He topped 20 points per game five of his remaining eight years. He accumulated over 27000 points in his combined ABA and NBA career trailing only Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Wilt Chamberlain and Julius Erving upon his retirement.

Gilmore's Size 18 Nike Air white leather shoes are in superlative condition showing good game use but otherwise are problem-free and seemingly as-issued. The black leather Nike Swoosh on the sides is in the same remarkable condition as is the Nike Air tagging on the top of the tongue. Gilmore has signed in black marker adding the personalization "To Bill." There has been some slight fading of the autographs.

The Converse All Stars from Issel show a bit more wear including some scuffing on the Converse logo on the heel but again with no real difficulties. Issel's fine point signature on the outside instep of each shoe is a bit light but still completely legible.

Comes with a Letter of Authenticity from renowned shoe collector Bill Ficke.
