During the summer of 1979 Ann Meyers Drysdale was a busy basketball player. After being the first female player ever to sign a free-agent contract with an NBA team (Indiana Pacers) she proceeded to try out for the team but failed to make the squad. Regardless she bounced right back by being named to the United States' Pan American Games women's basketball team and led the squad to the silver medal in San Juan Puerto Rico. Afterwards the 1979 FIBA World Championships were held in Seoul South Korea and the USA women won gold there for their first World Title since 1957. Meyers Drysdale wore uniform #9 in the practices leading up to both tournaments but sported her traditional #15 during games at both venues.

This lot features her 1979 USA Women's Basketball Pan Am Games/FIBA World Championships game-worn jersey warm-up top and practice jersey. The pullover game-worn jersey is navy blue outlined on the sleeves and collar with red and white piping. Sporting number "15" it includes proper Zwickel USA" manufacturer's tagging on the inside rear collar adjacent to a pair of strip tags. Both sides of the jersey include a thick white stripe with three red stars aligning in a vertical fashion. The accompanying practice jersey is also a pullover top that is sporting uniform number "9" on both sides in screed white with "USA" reading across the shoulders on the back of the jersey. The remaining long-sleeved button-down warm-up top is mostly navy blue with a white collar seven red buttons running down the front and "USA" adornign the back in red tackle twill outlined in white. The warm-up top includes the proper "Zwickel" manufacturer's tag on the inside. A fabulous piece of women's hoops history!
