Phillies fans of a certain age will fondly recall the great catcher for the Whiz Kids Andy Seminick who it might be noted had the highest OPS+ for the team in 1950. Seminick the first of the Whiz Kids to join the team played for the Phillies from 1943 to 1951 and from 1955 to 1957. Seminick was the Phillies "regular" catcher for eight of the 14 seasons he spent with the Phillies: 1945-1951 and 1955. From his lone All-Star Game appearance comes this rare Andy Seminick 1949 All-Star Game professional model baseball bat. The bat exhibits moderate use including multiple ball marks and rack marks with appropriate light grain swelling. Model number D89 is found stamped on the knob end with "All Star Game Brooklyn 1949" lettering on the barrel in addition to Seminicks facsimile signature stamping. The original finish on the barrel has deteriorated in a few areas. It is important to note that 1949 game marked the first time Louisville Slugger produced specially stamped "All-Star Game" model bats for player honored as the best in the game.
