Derek Jeter's final home game at Yankee Stadium will be one remembered forever. The anticipation and momentous build-up of El Capitan's farewell celebration was perfected for the Yankee faithful when Jeter in his typical clutch fashion hit a walk-off RBI single in the bottom of the 9th to win it for the Yanks 6-5 over the visiting Orioles. Offered here is an Official Major League (Allen H. Selig) baseball with a special Derek Jeter tribute stamping that was intended for use in that special game. There is no documented evidence of the ball being used in play. MLB Authentication has deemed the ball "game ready" but it certainly exhibits soiling and signs of usage. If a game-used item is not received by MLB Authentication within a few weeks of that game protocol is to call jerseys "team issued" and baseballs or bats "game ready". While we cannot definitively dispute MLB's determination of this baseball the amount of visible use certainly leaves this open for interpretation. The ball comes in a glass display case and rests atop real game-used dirt from Yankee Stadium. A nice nameplate honoring "DEREK JETER #2" with a short list of his career accolades is affixed to the wooden base of the display. Lovely memento for Jeter and Yankee fans!
