Hall of Fame hurler Tom Seaver the World Series hero of the 1969 Amazin' Mets recorded a total of 311 career victories while pitching for five different MLB teams. The overpowering right-hander posted his milestone 300th career win on August 4 1985 in New York. Only this time he was throwing fastballs for the Chicago White Sox on a road trip against the Yankees in the Bronx. Pitching as well as any 40-year-old ever had he joined a very select group of Major Leaguers to earn the benchmark victory.
Seaver pitched the Chicago White Sox to a complete-game 4-1 victory that day before 54032 at Yankee Stadium. Consider that score for a moment: 4-1 for the man wearing uniform number 41. This lot features a Seaver signed and inscribed game-used official American League (Brown) baseball from the memorable triumph. The aged baseball which shows its 33 years with some serious toning includes Seaver's signature on the north panel with his inscription “#300” above his scrawl and the date “8-4-85” just below it. A great piece of commemorative baseball history stemming from the remarkable career of one of its finest pitchers on record.
